Sustainable Rainwater Management and Life Cycle Assessment: Challenges and Perspectives

Rainwater harvesting is a promising technique for more rational water use. However, its sustainability merits remain subject of ongoing debate among researchers. Life cycle assessment (LCA), method employed to measure the environmental impact varying solutions, helpful in this regard. Accordingly, paper delivers an integrative review based on PRISMA protocol, outlining challenges and potential avenues LCA application rainwater harvesting. The central findings indicate that while residential buildings are most commonly examined, consensus needed uniform analytical framework. Furthermore, several benefits often not considered need further exploration understand possible synergies broader implementation. Finally, integration with life cost (LCCA) shows exciting results as it may be straightforward showcase integrated assessment. It concluded specific details still simplistic. There much work done holistic assessments prove system’s sustainability.
